MLK Food Drive


VisitPittsburgh is sponsoring our 9th annual MLK Hospitality Food Drive January 3-31, 2012. Donate items to benefit the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and make a difference.
The goal for 2012 is to collect 8,000 lbs. of food to serve thousands of individuals in need. You can help us reach the goal by dropping off your non-perishable food, personal hygiene and household products at one of the many collection centers including the newly opened WELCOME Pittsburgh Information Center + Gift Shop.

Requested staples include: 
No expired food items or glass containers, please!

  • Powdered Milk
  • Beans
  • Canned Vegetables
  • Disposable Razors
  • Soap
  • Diapers
  • Canned Chicken and Tuna
  • Soups/Stews/Chili
  • Peanut Butter
  • Toothpaste
  • Personal Hygiene Products

Fall Redd Up 2011 this Weekend


Thousands of volunteers will take to the streets of Pittsburgh neighborhoods and many Allegheny County communities next Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 21- 23, for the annual Fall Redd Up, a citywide effort that involves removing litter and trash, planting and working on community gardens. Groups and individuals interested in participating as volunteers can contact Citizens Against Litter and Boris Weinstein at boris.weinstein@verizon.net or at 412-688-9120. Allegheny CleanWays, which assists neighborhoods with eliminating illegal dumpsites, will also participate in the Redd Up.
